4Front Rhode VSTi
This is a vintage Rhodes-typed piano module with gentle overdrive.
This module reproduces the classic sound similar to RSP73
pianos. Module is not sample based, and the sound is generated
on-the-fly, therefore there are 127 layers with vintage rhodes
smooth overdrive, clean and continuous.
Unlike many other software modules and samplers, this module
will never overload CPU. It will never stick notes, and
never interrupt the sound during live performances.
Listen to Rhode demo!
All sounds except bass and drums - 4Front Rhode Pro VSTi. The demo
features multiple rhode presets and filter automation, also modified
attack/release controls (pro version). Additionally, standard Cakewalk
SONAR reverb plugin is used. Bass sound is
4Front Bass Module VSTi.
In the second example, main sequence sound notes are short, as they have
decay/release times modified to match the original. Those and other
controls are available in the professional version of 4Front Rhode.
A special
fxp preset pack was
created by me with Pro version of 4Front Rhode. Presets
are loadable to both, free and commercial versions of 4Front Rhode.

What do people say?
Some of people may think that Rhode Pro is not professional because of
its price
or lacking screws on the front panel. I'm
not
treating my users as fools - they need good control, not skins and screws.
Most of my testers are saying that module is quite authentic and reproduces
the vintage atmosphere of Rhodes/Wurly sound quite nicely, however some
of testers abuse alot. Anyway, 4Front Rhode free is 600k and won't take
much time to download. Check also
fxp preset pack.
There were questions about absence of built-in
chorus and
tremolo effects. My argument is, that module is not supposed
to have it. If one needs chorus or tremolo - one can easily stack VST effect
to the output, and that will be even better, since the best suitable
FX pack can be choosen, depending on the composition.
Ok, ok... :) I promise to release some day separate
chorus and
tremolo VST effects, that would sound
fine with 4Front Rhode.
Difference between Basic (free) and Pro (commercial) modules
To get a common idea of what exactly is different, check the screenshots
below:
Basic version:
Pro version:
As you can see, basic version is generally lacking envelope,
sensitivity/drive and room controls, that Pro version has. This is quite
important to get alternative sounding (listen to
MP3 demo),
so you may want to get a professional version.
Pro version is commercial and currently costs $30 USD.
Well, if you
really really really want to save and avoid payment,
you can use free version with presets.
You can ask your friend
that already has Pro version to do a preset for you - presets are
compatible between basic and Pro versions. But this is not for too long,
as I will probably add more features to Pro version very soon, and thus
preset compatibility will be broken.
